Materials handling

Design of bulk materials handling systems for export and import terminals, primarily in South America.

PRDW are skilled in the design and selection of mechanical systems including ship(un)loaders, belt conveyors, belt feeders, storage facilities, truck/wagons (un)loading systems. We apply these systems to handle different types of bulk materials like wood chips, salt, grains, fertilizers, coal, iron ore, lead, zinc, and copper concentrate.

Our mechanical engineers are familiar with current global design trends supported by the latest software developments in order to provide the best solution to our clients to handle their products while considering both CAPEX and OPEX.

Belt conveyor static design is performed using SIDEWINDER® and BELTSTAT® based on latest CEMA or DIN standards. This software has strong capabilities to calculate ascending, descending and regenerative conveyors from 24 to 120 inch belt width, and from short (10m) to overland conveyors (1000m).

For the chute design, we use BULK FLOW ANALYST®, based on DEM (Discrete Element Methods) methodology. With this software we improve the material trajectory, minimize dust and spillage, prevent chute plugging, improve the belt conveyor alignment and skirtboard design.
