Eden Island marina development

Coastal engineering for the island development
Design and Review
PRDW were appointed by Eden Island Development Company (EIDC) to undertake the coastal engineering for the development of Eden Island in the Seychelles.
Seychelles, Mahé Island
2005 - 2012

Eden Island is located on the eastern side of Mahé Island in the Seychelles and was created several years ago through the dredging and reclamation of surrounding coral reefs. The development of Eden Island includes several yacht basins within the island perimeter with residential and hotel developments fronting on to the marinas. The outer perimeter of the island was softened by incorporating a series of contained beaches on the island perimeter.

PRDW’s scope included:

  • Evaluating the maximum design water levels
  • Determining the near shore wave climate
  • Conceptual design and stability of the beaches
  • Water quality modelling
  • Assessment of run-up and overtopping of revetments
  • Wave refraction modelling to assess the wave climate within harbour basins
  • Breakwater design review
  • Design of the mooring layouts within the marina basins
