PRDW was appointed by ADSO for the design of the Al Fiyay Marine Facility. The Client for the project was Abu Dhabi Ports Company who appointed ADSO for the design and construction of the works in Al Fiyay, Abu Dhabi.
The objective of the Al Fiyay Island Development was to create a facility with safe marine access to the island for various types of vessels including small fishing boats, landing craft and ferries.
PRDW’s scope included the following:
- Dredging of approach channel, turning circle, access channels, pontoon areas and foundations of causeway, breakwater, ramps and quay wall
- Causeway for pedestrian and vehicular access from Al Fiyay Island to pontoons, slipway and landing craft ramp
- Breakwater providing wave protection to pontoon moorings
- Pontoon moorings to accommodate twenty-six (26) small craft vessels
- Slipway for launching and retrieval of small craft vessels
- Landing craft ramp for loading and unloading passengers, utility vehicles and general cargo
- Quay furniture for berthing, mooring and safety equipment at the landing craft ramp
- Aids to navigation for approach channel, turning basin, slipway, access channels and pontoon areas
- Paving, traffic calming and road markings
- Solar-powered lighting
- Firefighting
