AL NASEEM LOCK GATE AND SEAWATER RECIRCULATION DETAILED DESIGN

PRDW was appointed to undertake the detail design of the boat lock and seawater recirculation system for the Al Naseem gated community development located in Diyar Al Muharraq, Bahrain. The works aim to facilitate boat access between the sea and the residential canal development and to ensure flushing of the canals to maintain water quality.

PRDW was appointed as the specialist design consultants in 2020 and worked closely with the contractor to deliver world-class infrastructure to provide waterfront living to the residential community.

Two seawater pumping systems recirculate seawater between the outer and inner canals to maintain the water exchange in the inner canal within acceptable norms.

Detailed design included:

  • Intake structure with coarse screen for abstraction of seawater from the outer canal
  • Discharge weir structure for discharge of seawater into the inner canal
  • Intake structure with coarse screen for abstraction of seawater from the inner canal
  • Discharge weir structure and outlet pipeline for discharge of seawater to the outer canal
  • Below-ground pump station structures (2 No.)
  • Seawater pumps, pump station pipework (GRP) and valves
  • Buried connecting pipelines (GRP)
  • MCC buildings (2 No.)
  • Electrics, control and instrumentation, including pressure and flow measurement as well as remote monitoring
  • Specifications for the above works
