Quantity Surveyor

Position available in Cape Town, South Africa

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team to work on port and coastal engineering projects in the Southern Africa and globally.

The post will be responsible for providing all aspects of project cost management from inception to completion and will be expected to work independently with guidance from the rest of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide project cost management services including preparation of cost estimates, cost planning and budgetary forecasting.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents including bills of quantities.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, progress payments, and variations.
  • Evaluate and negotiate claims, variations.
  • Prepare cost reports and provide cost advice to the project team.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Report to the Technical Director Cost and Contracts and other senior staff.

Qualifications/requirements:

  • Degree required: BSc Hons (Quantity Surveying) – 
  • Solid track record
  • Experience required: Must have at least 3 – 5 years’ experience in a professional QS office. Exposure to large scale civil/ structural/ marine works projects will be beneficial. 
  • Professional registration with the SACQSP will be beneficial.
  • Must be proficient with the Mircosoft Office suite as well as good exposure to WinQs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid working environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Location:

  • Cape Town, Western Cape, candidate should be willing to relocate.
